Where should I stay?
TL;DR: We have a concierge service to make travel planning and booking as easy as possible (more on the concierge on the FAQ page).
For most guests, the nearby, walled town of Assisi is the best place to stay. The small town is charming, walkable, and very easy to get to from our venue, which makes it a great home base for the wedding celebrations.
Assisi gives you the authentic small hilltop Italian city feel — cobblestone streets, a famous cathedral, sweeping views, and plenty of places to meander as you search for your next espresso or Aperol spritz.
If you’re feeling more countryside vibes — or you have your heart set on a private place with a pool — there are also great options just outside the city. (And yes, the concierge can help with that too.)
If you’re planning to join us for all of the wedding festivities, we recommend booking at least three nights, from Tuesday, June 30 through Friday, July 3. That way you can arrive, settle in, celebrate, recover, repeat.
Below is everything you need to know about booking a place to stay.
Concierge Service (a.k.a. The People Who Make This Easy)
As most guests won’t be staying at Castello di Petrata, the venue offers a concierge service to help keep everything (and everyone) organized.
With the concierge service, you do not need to select or contact hotels directly. You can simply reach out to the concierge and they will:
Book your hotel, villa, agriturismo (like a farm stay), or whatever accommodation your heart desires. They have blocks of rooms set up at a few places and will do all the outreach on your behalf.
Coordinate private and group transportation to and from the venue for wedding events.
They can even help you book transfers to and from the airport / train station and book activities / excursions for you if needed.
You can tell them a bit about what you are looking for and they will make it happen. If you have already booked somewhere, please reach out to let them know where you are staying so they can help coordinate transportation to and from the venue.
Please email them directly here: 📧 concierge@castellopetrata.com - just put “Hannah & Colin Wedding – Accommodation / Transfers / Activities” in the subject line.
Based on guest preferences and logistics, they often recommend central Assisi properties like Hotel Giotto, Hotel Dei Priori, and Asisium Boutique Hotel.
That said — if you have your heart set on browsing or booking independently (we get it), we’ve included some suggested options below so you can peruse on your own!
Assisi City Center (Inside the City Walls)
This is the heart of the town — cobblestone streets, churches, shops, cafés — and where Assisi really comes alive. It’s also just 6 km (about a 10-minute drive) from our venue, Castello di Petrata, so you get all the charm and an easy commute.
The following hotels are all inside the city walls and were recommended by the team at Castello di Petrata:
Nun Assisi Relais & Spa Museum – Quiet, beautiful, and great if you’re into calm mornings and slightly elevated vibes.
Hotel Giotto Assisi – Comfortable, central, and a very easy choice for being right in the middle of things.
Hotel Fontebella – Full of character and perfectly located for wandering straight out the door.
In short: stay inside the walls if you want to feel immersed in Assisi, walk everywhere, and fully lean into small-town Italy.
Petrata Hill & Surroundings (Farmhouses, B&Bs, and Villas near the Castello)
If you’re dreaming of rolling hills, quiet mornings, and maybe a pool with a view, staying in the hills around Castello di Petrata might be for you. These options are located just outside Assisi, in the countryside surrounding the venue, and offer a more secluded, relaxed experience.
This can be a great choice if you’re traveling with a group, want more space, or are fully leaning into the Italian countryside vibes. Just note that staying outside the city generally means you’ll rely on taxis / transfers rather than walking, which the concierge can help coordinate.
A few nearby options to give you a sense of what’s available:
Agriturismo Molinella – A classic farm stay with beautiful surroundings
Borgo Antichi Orti Assisi – Peaceful, elegant, and surrounded by gardens and views
Re Artù Assisi – A boutique-style stay with character and countryside charm
Paradiso 41 – Private and scenic, ideal if you’re looking for something a bit more tucked away
If any of these catch your eye — or if you’re imagining something similar — the concierge can help you decide what makes the most sense and take care of the booking.
